Works Minister meets with Rashid Equestrian Club Executive Director

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received at his office Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club Executive Director Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

They met in the presence of Construction Projects and Maintenance Assistant Undersecretary Shaikh Meshaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Resources and Information Assistant Undersecretary Mohammed Saad Al Sahli, and discussed a number of topics, including the further development of Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club and raising it to the highest of international standards.

The Minister praised the efforts exerted by the club’s members in attending to this authentic Arabian sport and lauded the club’s numerous achievements since its inception 40 years ago. The club has played a major role in strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain’s place on the world horseracing map and in encouraging Bahraini youth to participate in this sport.

For his part, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid briefed the Minister on the club's future activities and programmes. He highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain will be hosting the first-ever Bahrain International Horseracing Cup on November 22 later this year, and noted that an event of its magnitude will open doors to all kinds of opportunities and attract many top-level owners and trainers from across the globe.

Shaikh Salman expressed the aspirations of Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club to step up its efforts in intensifying its programmes and plans. This is in order to raise the club’s status as it looks forward to competing in the international horseracing scene, which in turn would help contribute to raising the prominence of the Kingdom of Bahrain globally.

Shaikh Salman further expounded on the strategic objectives of the club's upcoming projects. Among these are the increase of the number of stables, the establishment of a veterinary clinic and an administrative building with world-class facilities, the maintenance of a suitable environment for horses, and the provision of all that is necessary to achieve these goals.
